DC Kishtwar reviews functioning of Jal Shakti Department

KISHTWAR, SEPTEMBER 18: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma today chaired a review meeting to assess the functioning of the Jal Shakti Department and to take stock of the measures being implemented to ensure adequate water supply across the district.
The DC issued a series of directions to streamline water distribution and strengthen service delivery.
He strictly directed ExEn Jal Shakti Kishtwar that individual water tankers should be provided to public places/Panchayats which are affected due to recent damages to the Naigad Water Supply Scheme, emphasizing that water supply should only be made available at public stands through buckets and utensils.
He further directed the ExEn Jal Shakti Kishtwar to immediately submit details of all defunct hand pumps, besides mobilizing available manpower and machinery to plug leakages and ensure proper water distribution.
The ExEn was also directed to ensure uniform water supply to all residents of Kishtwar without exception.
The DC also sought inputs from Junior Engineers (JEs) regarding the steps taken to address the ongoing water crisis and directed them to adopt all possible measures to meet public demand. He emphasized the need for proactive coordination and timely action to ease public hardships.
The DC instructed officials to seek support from the NHPC, Power Project Authorities by utilizing their available water tankers whenever required.
Calling for a mission-mode approach, he urged the Jal Shakti team to focus on timely repairs, effective coordination, and public-oriented service delivery.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Ground Water Division, Jammu has already initiated repair work on eight hand pumps in Kishtwar as part of the first phase of interventions.
The meeting was attended by ADC Pawan Kotwal, PO ICDS Rishi Kumar Sharma, DIO Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, ExEn Jal Shakti Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, JEs of Jal Shakti, besides other concerned officials.
