DC Kathua reviews District Employment Plan
Asks for counselling of students, exploring job potential sectors
KATHUA, JUNE 20: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey today chaired a meeting to review the District Employment Plan at the Conference Hall of DC Office complex.
General Manager, District Industry Centre, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Director Employment and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
At the outset, the AD Employment apprised the DC about the status of Self employment Schemes being implemented in the district and the employment scenario in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the implementation of employment schemes. He directed the concerned officers to work on identification of the unemployed youth and motivate and groom them for different livelihood activities as per their qualifications.
The DC also stressed on working out a mechanism for post training adjustment of the persons undergoing training at ITIs, Polytechnics under different schemes and counselling & handholding to budding entrepreneurs.“Identify the potential sectors where the youth can be absorbed and provide Self employment avenues,” he asked the officers.
The DC directed for spreading result oriented public awareness by organising Job Fair Cum Awareness Programme, Placement Camps and holding of counselling sessions on regular basis. He directed the concerned to make a schedule for holding counselling sessions in Colleges and Schools with special emphasis on targeting the Pre-final year students.
While expounding the concept of Michelin Star Rating, the DC directed all concerned for working out modalities under SVANIDHI/NULM to provide vends to street hawkers at Lakhanpur so as to ensure a clean and hygienic environment besides highlighting the cuisine of the region.
While directing the officers from the Tourism Department, the DC emphasized on preparation of an action plan for promotion of local tourism by studying the Home Stays Model of HP and Uttarakhand and ‘how the same can be replicated for projecting the local tourism on global landscape.’
The DC also asked for introduction of technological interventions, quality control and certification mechanisms in Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors so as to ensure that farmers get the right incentives for their produce.
