Commissioner Secretary RDD inaugurates Gobardhan project under SBM- G at Marh
JAMMU, MAY 26: Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Mandeep Kaur, today inaugurated Gobardhan Plant constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen at gram panchayat Dhatriyal of Marh block, Jammu.
‘Gobardhan, a Janandolan on safe management of cattle and organic waste is being pursued as a national priority programme under Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G) Phase II. It aims to support villages in effectively managing their cattle and biodegradable waste besides helping them convert their waste to wealth, improve environmental sanitation and curb vector borne diseases. The project is based on floating drum model and has been executed at the cost of 14 lakh which has been funded through SBM-G in convergence with Fourteenth Finance Commission.
Commissioner Secretary was informed that about 20 households have been connected with the plant through HDPE pipes while nearby Anganwadi centers as well as schools will also be connected with the project. The gas produced from the plant can be used by these households for cooking purposes and the manure produced could be used in the fields by the beneficiaries, she was told further.
The officers, while speaking on the occasion, education the general masses about the benefits of Gobardhan plant exhorting upon them to take optimum benefit of such government initiatives which can do wonders in transforming their lives.
On the occasion, Commissioner Secretary lit the gas stove working on the gas being supplied from the Gobardhan plant.
She assured that similar projects shall also be replicated in other Panchyats of different blocks of all the districts of jammu and Kashmir.
Director Rural Sanitation, S Charandeep Singh, Chairman Block Development Council, Marh, District Development Council member Marh, Deputy Director, Rural Sanitation, Jammu, ACD Jammu, SDM Marh, Tehsildar Marh, BDO Marh, PRIs and locals were present on the occasion.
