Clashes Erupt Between Pakistan Army and Afghan Forces Along Border

Islamabad, October 12: Clashes broke out between the Pakistan Army and Afghan forces following firing at multiple locations along the Pak-Afghan border in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan late Saturday night.
The exchange began after Taliban forces allegedly opened fire at several Pakistani border posts. Pakistani forces responded with heavy fire, reportedly targeting several Afghan border posts and militant formations, causing significant damage and casualties.
The clashes occurred at multiple locations including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baramcha. Security sources said the firing was aimed at facilitating the illegal entry of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants into Pakistani territory.
Taliban border forces claimed the fighting was in retaliation for alleged Pakistani air strikes on Kabul earlier this week. Officials from several Afghan border provinces confirmed the clashes.
Pakistan, however, denied carrying out the attacks and urged Kabul to stop harbouring TTP militants on its soil.
Former US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad expressed concern over the reported escalation, urging both sides to pursue dialogue instead of military confrontation.
