CB EOW Jammu Files Chargesheet in Visa Fraud Case Against Consultancy Owners

Jammu, October 08: The Crime Branch (Economic Offences Wing), Jammu, has filed chargesheet in the Ld. Court of 13 FC Jammu against siblings Poonam Sharma and Akash Sharma both R/o Janipur, Jammu in connection with case FIR No. 08/2026 u/s 420, 468, 120-B, 201 RPC and Sec 10, 24 of Emigration Act 1983 registered at Police Station Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu.A written complaint was lodged by Jaspal Singh R/o Digiana, Jammu against Poonam Sharma R/o Janipur, Jammu alleged wherein that the complainant paid a sum of Rs. 2,30,000/- via cheque to the accused to secure an Australian work visa for his son. To convince the victim and extract additional funds, Poonam Sharma provided a fake job offer letter purportedly issued by “Drillfit Energy Queensland, Australia”. A detailed investigation was carried out by Dy.SP Vishal Sharma, uncovered several fraudulent practices by the consultancy firm “M/S Futuristic Education Consultancy” run by accused and her brother Akash Sharma. Official records obtained from the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Jammu, confirmed that M/S Futuristic Education Consultancy was registered only up to March 31, 2015, and was operating without valid authorization or renewal. During investigation, it was established that Akash Sharma operated as the proprietor of the unauthorized consultancy while his sister Poonam Sharma acted as an agent, using false promises to lure and cheat unemployed youth desirous of moving abroad. It came to fore that the siblings are habitual offenders involved in similar criminal activities. Following the completion of the investigation a chargesheet was filed in the Ld. Court of 13 FC Jammu against Poonam Sharma and Akash Sharma both R/o Janipur, Jammu.SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu has advised general public to remain vigilant against such economic frauds and report any such incident to Crime Branch EOW Jammu (Crime Branch, J&K).
