BJP Demands Transferring the Charge of MCH Building in Govt Hospital Gandhi Nagar to Health Deptt. On the directions of Sh Ashok Koul Gen Secy(Org) BJP J&K, BJP Leaders Arvind Gupta, Secretary & President Office Incharge J&K UT and Ankit Gupta Social Media In charge J&K UT called upon Principal Secretary GAD & H&ME Department Sh Manoj Kumar Dwivedi and handed over a memorandum regarding the transfer of Charge of MCH Building established in the premises of Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar. The memorandum stated that the 200-bedded Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Gandhi Nagar was established with a vision that it will share the load of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital, Jammu which is overburdened. If the MCH block is returned to Health Department, the Maternal and Child Health facilities can be extended, as Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu has only 160 beds out of which just 40 beds are dedicated to MCH. The over crowdedness at SMGS Hospital Jammu can be sharded if this facility is made properly function resulting in better patient care and saving many precious lives. Also, if the MCH unit is shifted to MCH block the maternal OT and wards can be utilized by other specialty like Medicine, Surgery, Ortho, ENT, Skin, Psychiatry which shall again share the burden of Govt. Medical College, Jammu and shall be helpful to let them concentrate on Education of Medical Students. As the blood centre has been upgraded to blood component lab at Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, this facility shall be of great support to GMC Jammu in fighting against Dengue outbreaks and other infectious diseases if the 200 beds of MCH are added to the existing hospital. Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar has Super Specialty doctors in Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Diabetology and Gynae and Oncology. If the bed strength of the Hospital is increased, these units can be established here, there shall be a new hope for extending Palliative Care also in the Hospital, which is the only approved Nodal Centre for Palliative Care and Centre of Research (ICMR, New Delhi) in J&K. Pertinent to mention here is that Govt. JLNM Hospital, Rainawari Srinagar has the upgraded medical infrastructure available and has been working efficiently for the better patient care under the supervision of Director Health Services Kashmir.Dwivedi assured the leaders that this genuine concern would be considered in the upcoming proposals and addressed by the government at the earliest for the betterment of the patient care and public at large.
