“Campaigning Is Voluntary,” Says Omar Abdullah Amid Questions Over Aga Ruhullah’s Role

Srinagar: National Conference Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday stated that joining the party’s election campaign is a matter of personal choice, clarifying that no one is obliged to participate.
Responding to questions about senior party leader Aga Ruhullah’s involvement, Omar Abdullah said, “Our stance is simple — no one is forced to campaign. Those who want to contribute are welcome, and those who prefer not to, are free to abstain.”
He further expressed satisfaction over the campaign’s momentum, highlighting the enthusiastic public response. “Our campaign is progressing strongly, and we are confident of success. However, those who choose not to be part of our effort now cannot claim credit later,” he remarked.
The statement follows reports of internal differences within the party over the level of participation of some senior members in the ongoing election campaign.
