BRO DG Meets J&K Chief Secretary, Vows Fast-Track Restoration of Roads

Jammu, Sept 5: Director General of Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, on Thursday met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and assured that all vital road links damaged due to recent rains and floods will be restored at the earliest.

An official spokesperson said the BRO has already mobilised men and machinery on a war footing to reconnect flood-hit regions and restore smooth movement of essential supplies. Lt Gen Srinivasan shared an update on the progress of various stretches under repair and the timelines for reopening key arterial routes.

Chief Secretary Dulloo stressed that road connectivity is the lifeline of J&K, not only for civilians but also for strategic reasons, and called for doubling efforts to complete restoration works quickly. He lauded the BRO’s commitment in maintaining tough mountain roads despite harsh conditions.

Later, the BRO chief inspected damaged roads, including the Ramkot–Ranjit Sagar Dam and Basholi–Bani road, both of which suffered major destruction. At Pedu Nala, where two bridges were displaced by landslides, he oversaw diversion construction to restore traffic. He also visited Bhoond where a stretch of the Basholi–Bani road was washed away, and inspected new alignment work to re-establish connectivity.

Praising the personnel of Project Sampark, Lt Gen Srinivasan urged them to continue their dedicated efforts in the coming days to restore lifelines across the region.
