Bandipora Medical Officer Suspended for Skipping Duty, Missing Independence Day Event

Bandipora, Aug 16 — The Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora has suspended Dr. Sabia Salam, a Medical Officer, for remaining absent from duty and failing to attend the official Independence Day function, calling her conduct a “serious breach of discipline.”

According to the suspension order, Dr. Salam did not report for duty on August 14, 2025, which impacted patient care at the hospital. She also failed to attend the Independence Day celebrations on August 15 despite written instructions to be present.

The order stated that her actions showed “disrespect and disregard for a national event” and amounted to indiscipline “unbecoming of a government servant.”

Invoking Rule 31 of the J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, along with Article 128 of the J&K Civil Service Regulations, the Medical Superintendent suspended her with immediate effect, pending inquiry.

During suspension, Dr. Salam will remain attached to the Ophthalmology Department of District Hospital Bandipora and will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules.
