ADC Anantnag chairs meeting of political parties
Seeks suggestions for rationalisation of polling stations
ANANTNAG, JULY 21 Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Hassan Shiekh today chaired a joint meeting of EROs and representatives of political parties on the instructions of District Election Officer Dr Piyush Singla.
The meeting discussed issues about rationalisation of polling stations in 7 assembly segments of the district, summary revision and other ancillary issues.
The issues like adjustment of polling stations in new assembly constituencies, serialisation, names and locations of polling stations came up under discussion.
The ADC sought suggestions from the political representatives under set rules in the rationalization of polling stations, stating that political parties are prime stakeholders in the election process.
He said the political parties have a primary role in establishing robust political system and strengthening liberal democratic polity.
Sheikh assured full support of the administration in addressing genuine concerns of the political parties regarding relocation and creation of auxiliary polling stations under norms, adding that the administration will facilitate conduct of fair, smooth and transparent polls as and when the elections will be held.
The meeting was attended by Dy. DEO, Nazia Hassan, ACD Riyaz Shah besides EROs and AEROs of the district.
The representatives of various political parties including BJP, INC, NC, PDP, JKAP, JKPC participated in the meeting.
