AAY Beneficiaries Receiving Extra 10 Kg Free Ration Since April 2025: Government

Srinagar, Oct 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has said that Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households have been receiving an additional 10 kg of free ration per beneficiary every month since April 2025. The proposal to provide 12 LPG cylinders annually to these families is still under review.

According to official documents from the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), the additional ration is being distributed under Government Order No. 25-JK (FCS&CA) of 2025 dated April 2, 2025. The move aims to support AAY households with four or more members by supplementing their monthly food requirements.

The department clarified that the distribution ensures the quantity “does not exceed 10 kg per beneficiary” under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

It further stated that the proposal for providing 12 LPG cylinders “is a policy matter and remains under consideration with the Government.”

The department added that no separate funds have been allocated for procuring the additional ration. The food grains are being distributed free of cost as per government orders, with expenses for procurement and logistics met through the department’s revolving fund.
