BARAMULLA,  OCTOBER 02: To mark the concluding ceremony of the fortnight-long sanitation campaign ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ in the district, Rural Development Department in collaboration with District Administration today organised a Swatch Bharat Divas at Delina North Campus, University of Kashmir.

Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla,  Aijaz Abdullah Saraf participated in the programme as Chief guest while as members of DDC, BDC’s among other various concerned officers including Assistant Commissioner Development, Yaar Ali Khan, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Gulzaar Ahmed Khan were also present on the occasion. 

It is worth mentioning here to mention that On Swachh Bharat Diwas, the citizens once again made a commitment towards achieving the dream of Mahatma Gandhi for a clean society and country by taking vow to ensure comprehensive cleanliness in every village. 

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest underlined the objectives and importance of the campaign and said that the Department has launched several cleanliness drives at vital places of public importance. 

He said that such an ambitious mission conveys a pious message which should be followed in letter and spirit.

On the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Development Yaar Ali Khan said that the campaign was launched on 15th of September during which special cleanliness drives at public offices, schools, colleges and other places of public importance were organized besides holding awareness camps and other related programmes.

Other speakers also underlined the need  to mobilize the local people through community participation in the cleanliness drives in the future besides generating mass awareness through various media platforms. 

Meanwhile, various alternatives of plastic use items were showcased during which it was impressed upon the people not to use the plastic and further the stress was laid on proper disposal of both bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste (plastic and polythene) besides use of separate dustbins for the same. 

At the conclusion, a vote of thanks was presented by Assistant Commissioner Panchayat during which he extended his thanks to all the officers,  employees and other stakeholders who participated in ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign and made it a success.
