DDC Rajouri discusses Road Safety measures with district level Committee
Calls for collective efforts to minimise road mishaps
RAJOURI, JUNE 24: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review the measures being taken for the effective implementation of road safety measures in the district.
Detailed discussions were held with respect to enforcement of Traffic rules, formulation of awareness activity calendar, identification of land for the trauma centre, road safety activities in schools by road safety clubs, identification of black spots and road safety audit etc.
Speaking in the meeting, the DC said that road safety underlined the need for effective implementation of measures to make the roads safe for travelling minimizing road mishaps, injuries and deaths. He called for spreading mass awareness about the safety rules and taking corrective measures to make the roads safe for commuters. He said that collective efforts are required to mitigate the road accidents and timely rehabilitation of the accident victims. “Timely information about the mishap and prompt rescue are the key to save precious human lives”, he said and directed the Committee members to lay prime focus on these two aspects while formulating a road safety plan.
Executive Engineers from PWD(R&B) and PMGSY were directed to ensure regular maintenance of the roads to avoid road accidents.
They were also asked to identify the black spots and take corrective measures in accidental prone areas by fixing sign boards and installing crash barriers.
Stressing on the need to educate the masses about the road safety rules, he directed for organising special road safety awareness camps and motivating them to follow the golden rules of traffic. The Motor Vehicle Department was directed to submit the activity calendar in this regard.
For strict enforcement of the traffic rules, the DDC asked the MVA and traffic authorities to carry out special drives and take stern action against the violators.
