Interacts with farmers, reviews preparations for sowing of Kharif Crops on Zero Line

KATHUA, JUNE 03: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Pandey on Friday conducted an extensive tour of border tehsil Hiranagar and took stock of the preparations for sowing of Kharif Crops across the fence on Zero Line of Indo-Pak International Border.

The DC interacted with the farmers and prominent citizens of the Border Area at Chandwan post of Hiranagar Sector. He was accompanied by BSF Commandant Atul Shahi and CAO Kathua, Sanjeev Rai Gupta.

Pertinently farmers of the International Border of Kathua District were jubilant after resumption of cultivation on their fields on the forward line during the last Rabi Season after a long span of 20 years.

During the meeting, the local farmers expressed satisfaction as they had a bumper produce of Rabi Crop during 2021-22. The farmers were glad to re-cultivate their fields with the support of the Government, BSF and Agriculture Department.

The DC Kathua congratulated the farmers for their participation in agriculture activities. The Farmers were proposed to sow Kharif Crop over 200 Acres of land across the fence. He said district administration will extend all help for ensuring welfare of the border people and all their genuine issues will be redressed on priority basis.

During the deliberations, farmers and prominent citizens put forth issues concerning their respective areas and thanked the Administration and Agriculture Department for the initiatives taken for the welfare of the Border farmers.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua Sanjeev Rai Gupta also visited Border out post (BOP) Chandwan on the forward line of the International border. He said Murari Lal, SDAO Hiranagar has been appointed as Nodal officer for Border Sowing.

BSF Commandant, Atul Shahi assured full cooperation to the administration and farmers. He praised the hard work done and assistance provided by Agriculture officers and officials for the successful cultivation of Rabi Crop 2021-22.

DDC Marheen Karan Kumar Attri also expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by the administration through the Agriculture Department for successful sowing of crops on zero line.

Border Sowing Team Comprising Sudhir Singh, Narayan Singh, Sanjay Kumar & local farmers were also present on the occasion.
