EOW files chargesheet in ₹25-lakh job fraud case

Jammu, October 29: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Sub Judge, Jammu, against two persons accused of allegedly defrauding unemployed youth of approximately ₹25 lakh on the pretext of providing government jobs.
The accused have been identified as Peerzada Abdul Hamid, a resident of Damhal, Anantnag, and Muneer Hussain, a resident of Sangyote, Mendhar, Poonch. The chargesheet has been filed in connection with FIR No. 43/2019, registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu.
The case originated from a complaint filed by Muneer Hussain against Peerzada Abdul Hamid, alleging job fraud. Following directions from the competent court, the case was registered and investigated by the EOW.
During the investigation, led by Inspector Meenu Sharma, it allegedly emerged that Muneer Hussain, who initially approached the authorities as the complainant, had acted in connivance with Peerzada Abdul Hamid. The two allegedly lured unemployed youth with promises of government jobs, collected money from them and subsequently used a complaint to evade their alleged liability.
Witness statements and documentary evidence reportedly supported the allegations against both accused. Accordingly, the chargesheet has been submitted before the Court of Sub Judge, Jammu, for judicial proceedings.
The SSP, Crime Branch EOW Jammu, has advised the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent job offers and avoid paying money to individuals promising government employment through unofficial channels.
Victims of economic fraud may lodge complaints with Crime Branch EOW Jammu via email at sspcrimejmu@jkpolice.gov.in or contact the office at 0191-2578901.
