REASI, FEBRUARY 24: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Kumar Abhishek, today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of Social Welfare schemes in the district.
During the meeting, District Social Welfare Officer Sachin Sharma presented a detailed overview of the department’s functioning. He informed the chair about the status of key schemes, including the Integrated Social Assistance Scheme, National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), Pre and Post Matric Scholarship Schemes, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, Marriage Assistance Scheme and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the department to ensure 100 per cent coverage of all eligible students under the Pre and Post Matric Scholarship Schemes. He stressed the need for generating mass awareness to maximise coverage of eligible beneficiaries. He also instructed the District Social Welfare Officer to verify the availability and functioning of sanitary vending machines installed in schools in the district.
Emphasising skill development and capacity building, the Deputy Commissioner called for exploring convergence with Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to facilitate issuance of nationally recognised certificates to students, thereby enhancing their employability.
The Deputy Commissioner further reviewed the functioning of Mission Shakti–Sankalp–Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Vatsalya–Child Helpline, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and One Stop Centre (OSC), which provide critical support services to women and children in distress. He also took stock of awareness camps conducted under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan across the district.
Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar alongwith other concerned officers of the Social Welfare Department attended the meeting.
