Detained AAP MLA Mehraj Malik’s Petition Listed for Final Hearing in J-K High Court on Dec 18

Jammu, Dec 5: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has scheduled the habeas corpus plea filed by detained Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraj Malik for final consideration on December 18, after detailed arguments were presented before the court on Tuesday.
Malik, who also serves as AAP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit president, was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) on September 8 for allegedly disturbing public order. He is currently lodged in Kathua Jail. On September 24, he approached the court challenging his detention and seeking Rs 5 crore compensation.
AAP spokesperson and advocate Appu Singh Salathia said senior advocate Rahul Pant led the arguments on Malik’s behalf.
“The team leading our side, senior advocate Rahul Pant, argued before the court till 1 pm and elaborately presented our case. The judge heard us in detail,” Salathia said.
The legal team representing Malik includes senior advocate Pant and advocates S S Ahmed, M Tariq Mughal, M Zulkarnain Chowdhary, and Salathia.
The matter has now been posted for final hearing on December 18, when the petitioners will conclude their submissions, followed by arguments from the government side.
“We are hopeful of a positive outcome,” Salathia added.
