Rape Accused, Woman Fugitive Nabbed in Separate Operations in Doda and Reasi

Jammu, Nov 7: Police in Jammu and Kashmir have arrested a rape accused and a woman absconder in two separate operations carried out in Doda and Reasi districts, officials said on Friday.

According to a police spokesperson, Sunil Kumar — wanted in a rape and criminal breach of trust case — was apprehended from Doda in a coordinated operation. The accused, a resident of Sindra Bala, had been evading arrest for some time after a case was registered against him at Janipur Police Station in Jammu.

In a separate incident, police in Reasi arrested a woman who had been on the run for the past 17 years. She was wanted in connection with a 2008 abduction and rape case registered in Bhaderwah, Doda district.

Following her arrest from the Katra area, the woman was produced before the Fast Track Court in Doda and has been sent to judicial custody at District Jail Bhaderwah till November 13.
