Paperwork Completed to Provide Land to Landless Flood-Hit Victims: CM Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Oct 27: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday announced that the paperwork for providing land to landless victims of the recent floods has been completed, assuring that the relief distribution will be carried out without any discrimination.
Responding to a query on relief measures for flood-affected families, Omar said there was no need for a new policy as existing frameworks already cover the affected households. “As far as the landless people are concerned, the paperwork has been completed,” he said, adding that land allotment will be done under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) pattern.
The Chief Minister further stated that a central team, along with the Union Agriculture Minister, conducted an assessment and concluded that the Jammu region suffered losses comparable to those in Kashmir during the 2014 floods.
He added that the state government has formally written to the Centre regarding the relief package, and once approved, funds will be distributed fairly among all affected families.
