Sleep Cell Module Case: SIA Conducts Search Operation Across 7 Districts in Kashmir

Srinagar, October 8: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday carried out extensive search operations at eight locations across seven districts of the Kashmir valley as part of its ongoing investigation into a sleeper cell module.

According to an official statement, the searches were conducted in connection with FIR No. 01/2025 registered at Police Station CI/SIA Kashmir. The case pertains to a sleeper cell network allegedly operating in the valley under the directions of terrorist commanders from proscribed outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

The module, the agency said, was involved in spreading secessionist propaganda, radicalizing local youth, and recruiting them into terrorist ranks.

The coordinated raids were conducted simultaneously in all three ranges — North, Central, and South Kashmir. “During the operations, substantial incriminating materials have been seized, and several suspects have been rounded up for questioning,” the SIA said.

Preliminary investigation has indicated the active involvement of the suspects in a terrorist conspiracy aimed at promoting anti-India narratives, inciting public disorder, and spreading communal discord, it added.

The SIA reiterated that the operation reflects its ongoing efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir and strike at the roots of extremist networks.
