Security Tightened After Encounter With Terrorists in J-K’s Rajouri; Search Ops Underway

Rajouri, October 8: Security forces have intensified operations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district following an exchange of fire between terrorists and police, officials said on Wednesday.
The encounter took place late Tuesday night between terrorists and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Beerant Hub area under Kandi Police Station limits.
Soon after the exchange of fire, joint teams of the Police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) rushed to the area and launched a massive cordon and search operation.
Officials said vehicle checks are being carried out along the Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal road, with security personnel deployed at multiple checkpoints to ensure no suspicious movement.
“All routes leading to Budhal have been placed under heightened surveillance,” an official said, adding that search operations are continuing in the area.
