IRP 10th Battalion organises sports events at Mattan under Civic Action Programme

ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 19: As part of the ongoing Civic Action Programme (CAP), IRP 10th Battalion organised Kho-Kho Tournament at Govt. High School Kheribal Mattan here.
A total of eight teams comprising boys category and girls category from 07 schools namely GHS Kheribal, GHS Seer, HS Akad, HS Gopalpora, HS Salia, HSS Seer, and HS Fohar of Zone Mattan Anantnag participated in the tournament.
In the boys’ category, Govt. High School Gopalpora emerged winner and was awarded cash prize of ₹5,000 along with a trophy, while as runner-up team was awarded with cash prize of ₹3,000 and a trophy.
Similarly, in the girls’ category, Govt. High School Kheribal secured the first position and won cash prize of ₹5,000 and trophy, while the runner up team Govt. High School Akad was awarded cash prize of ₹3,000 and a trophy.
In addition, medals and participation certificate were distributed to all participants.
Addressing the students on the occasion, Commandant IRP 10th Battalion, Rajinder Katoch highlighted that the event is part of the ongoing efforts of J&K Police to strengthen the Police-public relations. He urged the youth to refrain from drug abuse, harmful practices, and focus on education and building their bright future.
Yesterday, the IRP 10th Battalion in collaboration with DYSSO Anantnag also held Final of Volley Ball Tournament under Civic Action Programme of J&K Police at Sports Ground Tik Bagh Mattan here.
Total eight teams had participated in the tournament namely GHSS Mattan, GHSS Wanpoh, GHSS Dethu, GHSS Chittergul, GHSS Y.K. Pora, GHSS Vesssu, GHSS Dialgam and GHSS Brakpora of district Anantnag.
The Final Match was played between GHSS Wanpoh and GHSS Mattan at Sports Ground Tik Bagh in which GHSS Wanpoh secured victory with an impressive 3:1 win.
DDC Chairman Anantnag, Choudhary Mohd Yousuf was chief guest on the occasion. Commandant IRP-10th Bn, Rajinder Katoch; Dy. CO IRP-10th Bn, Fahad Tak; DYCO IRP-10th Bn, Imtiyaz Ahmad; ZPEO Mattan, SHO Mattan, president Auqaf Committees Mattan/Akoura and other respectable members of the society also witnessed the tournament.
The winning team was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 15000 while as runner up team was awarded Rs. 7000, besides trophies were presented to both teams.
Sports kits, uniform kits, track suits, t shirts, appreciation certificates, participation certificates and medals were also distributed among players of all participating teams
The sports events are being held with an aim to encourage students to actively participate in sports, promote healthy lifestyles, and stay away from drugs and other anti-social activities.
