One-day training program on Incident Response System held at Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, AUGUST 21: Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction today organized a one-day training programme on the Incident Response System (IRS) in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal.

The programme was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, and witnessed participation of district officers and members of the IRS team of the district.

The training was aimed at strengthening district-level response mechanisms and fostering coordinated action during emergencies and disasters.

Speaking on the occasion, DC underscored the significance of advance preparedness and seamless coordination for ensuring timely and effective response during emergencies. He stressed that efficient disaster response requires prior planning as the window for action in crisis situations is often very limited.

Deputy Secretary, DMRR&R, Snober Jameel, conducted an orientation session, sensitizing participants about their respective roles and responsibilities under the IRS framework.

During the programme, various case study scenarios were presented and deliberated upon to enhance the practical understanding and preparedness of participants.

It is worth mentioning that the IRS provides a structured and standardized mechanism designed to replace ad-hoc measures with a well-coordinated, accountable, and efficient disaster response framework to minimize loss of life and property.

Among others, the programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Fahim Bihaqi; ACR, besides other district officers and officials.
