One Dead, 35 Injured in Bus Accident Carrying Mata Vaishno Devi Pilgrims in Samba

Samba, Aug 21 — A bus carrying pilgrims to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine met with an accident in Jatla area of Samba district on Thursday, leaving one person dead and at least 35 others injured, police said.
The bus, bearing registration number UP81BT 7688, was carrying devotees from Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh when it skidded off the road. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, while several critically wounded passengers were referred to AIIMS Jammu for advanced treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Kripal alias Iqbal (31), son of Harbans, a resident of Rukhalu village, Hasanpur tehsil, Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh.
Police released the list of injured, which includes men, women, and children from the same district. Among them are Phool Kumar, Om Kala, Rum Singh, Bala, Kajal, Rakesh Kumar, Pushpa, Ompal, Mavasi, Nambir, Jaipal, Sobram, Reena, Suraj, Mukesh, Arti, Ramvati, Rinku, Udal Singh, Nirmal, Ashok, Kaushal, and Dushant Singh.
Those referred to AIIMS Jammu for specialized care include Pushpinder, Bhagwan Saye, Khoof Chand, Gajraj, Vijender, Rajinder (driver, resident of Khurja, Bulandshahr), Poonam, among others.
Authorities confirmed that the condition of several injured passengers remains critical. Police have registered a case and launched further investigation into the cause of the accident.
