Pakistan Incurred Rs 4.1 Billion Loss from Airspace Ban on Indian Flights: Report

Islamabad, Aug 10: Pakistan’s Airports Authority (PAA) has lost Rs 4.1 billion in just over two months due to its decision to block Indian airlines from using its airspace, official data shows.
The ban was imposed after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. Tensions deepened following the four-day conflict triggered by India’s Operation Sindoor on May 7, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territory.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence told the National Assembly on Friday — as reported by Dawn — that the losses, recorded between April 24 and June 30, were from reduced overflight revenue, not overall financial shortfalls. Overflight and aeronautical charges remain unchanged, the ministry said.
While Pakistan’s skies remain open to all other carriers, Indian airlines and aircraft are still barred, and Pakistani carriers continue to be banned from Indian airspace.
