Retired Man Duped of ₹2.85 Crore in Stock Investment Scam in Thane

Thane, July 16 – A 66-year-old retired government official from Dombivli in Maharashtra’s Thane district lost a staggering ₹2.85 crore after falling prey to a share investment scam promising high returns, police said on Wednesday.
According to officials, the victim, a resident of Vishnu Nagar, was contacted over the phone by individuals claiming to represent a well-known investment and stock trading firm. Enticed by promises of lucrative gains, he transferred ₹2.85 crore to multiple bank accounts over a span of two months.
However, after seeing no returns on his investment, the man tried to follow up. The accused initially offered vague responses but eventually stopped responding altogether.
