Minister for Education, Sakeena Itoo on behalf of Minister In-charge Information Department informed the J&K LA that the proposed New Media Policy, 2026 will include provisions for registration and regulation of Online News Media Platforms to ensure accountability.She said the issue was discussed during the Budget Session 2026, with MLAs highlighting concerns regarding misleading and false information by unregistered and unregulated digital and social media news channels.The Minister said the Information Department will soon issue the New Media Policy, 2026, covering both Print Media and Online News Media Platforms.
