DDC #Samba reviews formulation of Skill Development Action Plan under #SANKALP
SAMBA, MAY 05: District Development Commissioner, Samba Anuradha Gupta today convened a meeting to review and discuss Skill Development Action Plan under Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP)- a programme of the Ministry of Skill Development.
It aims to improve short term skill training qualitatively and quantitatively through strengthening institutions, bring in better market connectivity and inclusion of marginalised sections of the society.
It was informed that a Plan ceiling of Rs 2 crore has been extended by Government of India to district Samba for it being an Aspirational District.
Chief Planning Officer Sukhleen Kour, General Manager DIC Surinder Paul Sharma, Chief Education Officer, MGN fellow, co opted members of District Skill Committee besides other district officers attended the meeting.
The MGN Fellow, entrusted with the task of preparation of plan, gave a power point presentation and briefed about the revised guidelines of the programme.
Speaking at the meeting, the DDC stressed upon formulation an effective plan for skills acquisition and knowledge awareness to enable the trainees to earn a dignified livelihood. She said that the aim of the plan should be to upgrade the skill of the youth to make them employable.
โA range of trades have been identified by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) which have good scope of employment generationโ she added.
The General Manager, DIC and LDM Samba were directed to figure out the trades as per the requirements of Local Industry. She also stressed upon holding a meeting with major industrialists to workout their requirements.
